IN MEMORIAM
Longtime and active SEAOSC member Gordon A. Kelsen, S.E. of Thousand Oaks died suddenly April 28 of a heart attack. Gordon had been a licensed Structural Engineer since 1963 and was Vice President of Martin & Kelsen in Agoura Hills and most recently Vice President of Entertainment Engineering in Burbank. He was involved with many aspects of the engineering community; chairing committees such as California Structural Licensing Examination - Member Professional Practices in addition to the SEAOSC committees: Professional Practice, Office Practice, and Emergency Services. Along with his dedication to the engineering profession he was an active member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Thousand Oaks where he was a Choir Member, Deacon and an Elder. Although he was deeply involved with his community and profession, his most treasured times were spent with his loving family which include Joan, his wife of 35 years, eldest son Steven, his wife Barbara and their children Danielle and Reilly as well as son Michael, his wife Jacqui and their children Nichole, Matt and Amber. (Michael and Jacqui are expecting a son soon.) In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Gordon's memory be made to the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church of Thousand Oaks Building Fund (805) 498-4502 or the American Heart Association 1-800-HEART-LA .
SEAOSC Life Member SE John E. Soehrens passed away Apr. 2. Unfortunately, little personal information is available except that he is survived by at least one daughter, Barbara. A member of SEAOSC since 1953, John lived in Gustine, CA.
