“Bring a Buddy to an AISC Seminar”

Here is a GREAT offer for you folks in California that want to attend a terrific AISC seminar at a terrific price. For every person that registers at either the AISC/SSRC member or non-member price, he/she may register one other attendee for $100. That means if two engineers register together, and they split one regular fee plus the special $100 fee, there is a big savings for both of them. If a firm wants to register six people, that firm can register three people at the regular fee and three people at $100 each.
AISC is bringing a brand new seminar to San Francisco on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 and to Los Angeles on Thursday, January 15, 2004.  The seminar is "Basic Design for Stability – Columns and Frames".  The authors of this presentation, Dr. Theodore Galambos, Dr. Joe Yura, Dr. Todd Helwig, and Dr. Perry Green, are leading experts on stability and currently serve on the Structural Stability Research Council

The speakers at the San Francisco and Los Angeles seminars will be Dr. Joe Yura of the University of Texas and Dr. Todd Helwig of the University of Houston.

The seminar will be held at the Embassy Suites San Francisco Airport Hotel, 150 Anza Blvd - Burlingame on Jan. 14, and at the Sheraton Universal Hotel, 333 Universal Hollywood Drive on Jan. 15 from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (registration at 8:00 am) and will include lunch and refreshments.

“Basic Design for Stability - Columns and Frames”

The American Institute of Steel Construction, Inc. (AISC) and the Structural Stability Research Council (SSRC) teamed up to put together a six-hour program that focuses on the compressive strength of columns and frames and provides a fundamental understanding of buckling. The seminar gives background information needed to understand the stability provisions in the AISC Specification and methods of stability analysis outlined in the AISC Commentary. There will be a strong emphasis on applications through the use of example problems and case studies.
